The Jose T. Joya Gallery was inaugurated last August 24, 2016 as the marker was also unveiled during its inauguration. The event also marks the 40th year of the Joya Awards of the UP Fine Arts program as this was the brainchild of the late National Artist Jose T. Joya.
Since then, four exhibitions have transpired up to this date of posting (April 2017). The launching exhibit was the Gawad Joya, a showcase of the past Joya awardees since 1976 until 2016. The show opened on August 24. The next exhibit was the Pamalandong which was also participated by the Fine Arts Alumni and opened on November 24.
The Annual Art Exhibit and Jose Joya Awards of the current students opened on February 15, 2017. The fourth show is the Pundok 2017, an exhibition of wall bound artworks that were a product of the collaboration of the visual artist and the poet.
