{"id":2881,"date":"2026-08-26T15:31:32","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T15:31:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ccad.upcebu.edu.ph\/?p=2881"},"modified":"2026-08-26T15:35:17","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T15:35:17","slug":"ccad-to-start-cultivating-permaculture-garden-with-weekly-activities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ccad.upcebu.edu.ph\/index.php\/2026\/08\/26\/ccad-to-start-cultivating-permaculture-garden-with-weekly-activities\/","title":{"rendered":"CCAD to start cultivating permaculture garden with weekly activities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section][et_pb_row][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243;][et_pb_text]<!-- divi:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><em>Permaculturist Lee Hizola delivers a talk on permaculture | Photo by: Crina Ta\u00f1ongon<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nThe College of Communication, Art and Design (CCAD) will begin cultivating its Permaculture Garden through a series of weekly activities.<\/p>\n<p>Located at the Sunset Garden of the University of the Philippines Cebu, the garden will be cared for not only by the college\u2019s faculty but also by students and other members of the UP Cebu community.<\/p>\n<p>The garden was formally launched on August 26 with faculty members, biology students, and university officials in attendance.<br \/>\nPermaculturist Lee Hizola will guide the college as it develops the garden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPermaculture is a design system,\u201d Hizola said during her talk, which introduced strategies and principles for gardening.<\/p>\n<p>Hizola also introduced the concepts of caring for nature, caring for people, and fair share.<\/p>\n<p>In the coming weeks, the lectures will focus on composting, seed care, and maximizing sunlight for the garden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is really time to restore, revive our connection with nature,\u201d said CCAD Dean Crina Ta\u00f1ongon.<\/p>\n<p>The Permaculture Garden is part of the planned CCAD Community Biospace, which brings together community engagement, knowledge production, creative work, and ecological practice.<\/p>\n<p>It is also part of the college\u2019s vision of becoming a leading institution for transdisciplinary knowledge creation and community engagement in art and design, communication, media, and cultural studies in Central Visayas.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/divi:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><div class=\"et_pb_section et_pb_section_0 et_section_regular\" >\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div><div class=\"et_pb_row et_pb_row_0 et_pb_row_empty\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div><div class=\"et_pb_module et_pb_text et_pb_text_0  et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div> Permaculturist Lee Hizola delivers a talk on permaculture | Photo by: Crina Ta\u00f1ongon The College of Communication, Art and Design (CCAD) will begin cultivating its Permaculture Garden through a series of weekly activities.
