Apa, Ivy Marie
Assistant Professor
Ivy Marie Apa is a practicing artist and academic. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts major in Painting and her master’s degree in Anthropology from the University of San Carlos. She is an Assistant Professor of art history and studio arts courses in the Fine Arts Program of CCAD. Ivy has participated in various local and international art workshops and residencies, which she continues to do so today. A number of these fellowships are hosted by academic institutions in the arts such as Poh-Chang Academy of Art in Thailand, the National Taitung University in Taiwan, and Dasein Academy of Art in Malaysia. The exchanges that this network sponsors are a conduit for continuous learning and a resource for content that helps instruction in studio arts. Ivy is likewise a Regional Winner of Philippine Art Awards 2020 and an Honor Award Grantee for the Regional Art Forum, Austronesian International Arts Award Residency and Exhibition, 2018.
Ivy is the former Chairperson and current Archive Officer of the Regional Art Forum + Community Art Archive (RAF+CAA), an independent socio-civic organization that caters to the needs of region-based art practices. Her membership and participation in RAF+CAA enable her to engage with local communities in a collaborative and responsive way. She helps organize art talks, community dialogues, and participatory works as extensions of her art practice. Her creative and research interests include the anthropology of art, community-engaged art, visual ethnography, anthropology and art practice.
