Mary Grace Compuesto or Greys Compuesto obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts major in Painting from the University of the Philippines Cebu. She worked as an art director, graphic designer, and visual merchandiser in Manila’s retail and lifestyle industry, Kerith Brook Int’l. and Artwork Inc. from 2007-2013. For four years, her designs were awarded the Overall Best in Visual Merchandising Excellence Award by the Ayala Merchants Rewards Award. She received the Darmasiswa KBRI Scholarship where she took Traditional Puppetry in P4TK Seni dan Budaya, Yogyakarta, and took a special course in Batik Art at Indonesia Institute of the Arts in 2014-2016. Greys have been doing community-based art projects with the support of Japan Foundation, Ayala Foundation Inc., and NCCA; and art residencies in Dali Art Factory Artist in Residence in 2017, House 115 Art Residency in 2020, and Pasa Load Residency by LONADI in 2021. She had held solo and group exhibitions in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Brazil, Lithuania, Japan, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the USA. Greys co-founded KLMTW in 2016 – an open collective for creative and non-creative focusing on performance art, installation, and new media art where their art projects are presented in festivals and exhibitions around SEAsia and Japan. She is actively collaborating and co-running artist-run initiatives in Cebu – xo?, Luyo_Space., and Vice-Versa Art Projects. Greys is a faculty member at UP Cebu, College of Communication, Art, and Design – Fine Arts Program and the Assistant Curator of The Joya Gallery, UP Cebu.
