Professor
Dennis E. Montera is a Full Professor in the Fine Arts-Studio Arts program. His body of creative work exhibitions has been featured in leading galleries and institutions in Manila and Cebu and in several international art fairs. He was awarded the top prize for painting in the 2010 GSIS painting competition, a juror’s choice award in the 2011 Philippine Art Awards, and as the Philippine representative to the Beijing International Art Biennale in 2012. He obtained an MFA from UP Diliman and a PhD in Creative Industries Design from NCKU in Taiwan. His research work has been presented in international conferences and published in art and culture journals with a focus on visual art practice, non figurative art, and visual art ecologies beyond the mainstream capital. Dr. Montera is also active in community service as a founding member of the board of the Creative Cebu Council, Inc. and a two-time Vice-Head of the Executive Council, Committee on Visual Arts of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
