Maurice Jitty Villaester (he/him/his) is an instructor in the Communication program. Villaester has worked in the field of digital marketing as a content marketer, social manager, and SEO for various local and international clients. He is also involved in multiple organizations like LoveYourself, an organization that aims to reach out to the community to propagate ideas, attitudes, and practices that encourage loving one’s self, and Tsek.ph, a collaborative fact-checking project for the 2022 Philippines’ elections. He is also a part of the ASEAN Digital Literacy Programme as one of its master trainers to help train underprivileged community members in the Philippines on how to protect themselves against misinformation and disinformation. He is finishing his master’s degree in Development Communication at the University of the Philippines Open University, and his research interests include new media and queer media studies. Currently, he’s also serving as the Gender and Development focal person of the College of Communication, Art, and Design and the supervisor of DYUP Sugbo, the official radio station of the University of the Philippines Cebu.
