The annual Jose T. Joya Awards is now accepting submissions as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The Jose T. Joya Awards is an annual art competition named after Filipino National Artist and pioneer of abstract art Jose T. Joya.
The Fine Arts program describes the awards as “honoring a legacy of imagination, experimentation, and artistic excellence carried forward by generations of artists.”
Joya helped build the Fine Arts program at UP Cebu in 1975 and launched the painting competition in 1977 to support young local talents.
The competition is open to students enrolled in the UP Cebu Fine Arts program. Expert judges will review student submissions and select the top winners.
Registration is open until October 16, 2026. Artworks should be submitted from October 16 to 19, 2026.
The awarding ceremony is scheduled for October 23, 2026, with the accompanying exhibit running until November 27, 2026.
