BA COMMUNICATION PROGRAM
Since 1980, the Communication Program of the University of the Philippines Cebu has been nurturing journalists, filmmakers, writers, storytellers, and changemakers. Blending creativity with purpose, it hones skills in journalism, film, creative writing, literature, multimedia storytelling, and development communication.
Through hands-on learning, research, and public service, students develop critical thinking, cultural awareness, and ethical leadership for diverse careers in the field of communication.
VISION
The Communication Program of the University of the Philippines Cebu envisions itself as the leading academic program in the Visayas and Mindanao. It gives primacy to the transformational role of journalists and communicators in multimedia platforms.
Through instruction, research, and public service, the program molds graduates who are excellent media practitioners and communicators with a deep sense of social responsibility and respect for cultural diversity, proactively caring for the environment and practicing ethical behavior in their professions and advocacies.
MISSION
In the diverse fields of journalism, development communication, integrated marketing communication, organizational communication, intercultural communication, and creative communication, the Communication Program produces leaders who uphold the highest standards of media and communication practice.
The program equips graduates to become journalists in multimedia platforms and communicators in public and private organizations with ethics and excellent skills, openness to lifelong learning, creativity to initiate sustainable solutions, courage to hold those in power accountable, and commitment to empower disenfranchised communities to bring about social justice.

OUR ORGANIZATIONS & AFFILIATIONS

Communicators of UP (CommUP)
COMMUP is the home of Communication majors in UP Cebu. Beyond fostering academic and creative growth in Journalism, Development Communication, IMC, and Creative Communication, it serves as a collective where students organize, advocate, and build spaces that amplify their voices and rights within and outside the university.

Tinta
Tinta is the official literary student organization in UP Cebu. Founded through the establishment of UP Cebu’s Creative Writing Program, the organization provides a platform for students interested in poetry, fiction, essays, and other literary forms to develop their craft and share their work. Through writing workshops, readings, publications, and collaborative projects, Tinta fosters a vibrant literary community within the College of Communication, Art & Design.

ArtsComm Federation
The ArtsComm Federation is the official student organization of the Communication and Fine Arts students at the University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu. It serves as an academic and student-led federation, advocating for students’ interests, promoting creative expression, and engaging in various campaigns and activities within the college and university community.

UP Students' Theatre Arts Guild for Education (UPSTAGE)
UPSTAGE is the longest-running performing arts organization and the only theater organization in UP Cebu. Mostly organized by CCAD students, the organization provides a creative platform for students interested in acting, directing, stage production, scriptwriting, music, and dance. Through productions, workshops, and performances, UPSTAGE aims to cultivate artistic expression while using theater as a medium for education, cultural engagement, and social reflection.

Aspiring Cinema Talents of UP (ACTUP)
Aspiring Cinema Talents of UP (ACTUP) is the premiere film organization of UP Cebu that brings together students passionate about filmmaking, storytelling, and audiovisual media. The organization provides opportunities for members to develop their skills in directing, screenwriting, cinematography, editing, and film production through collaborative projects, workshops, and film screenings. ACTUP also participates in student film festivals, campus productions, and creative initiatives that contribute to the growth of regional and student-led cinema.

Iskultura
Iskultura is a student dance organization dedicated to the performance and promotion of Philippine cultural, ethnic, and indigenous dances. The group provides a space for students to learn, practice, and showcase traditional and contemporary interpretations of Filipino dance forms. Through performances, workshops, and cultural presentations, Iskultura contributes to the preservation and appreciation of the Philippines’ rich and diverse dance heritage while fostering artistic discipline, cultural awareness, and creative expression within the community at the University of the Philippines Cebu.

Lanog Publication
Lanog is the voice of CCAD students in UP Cebu. More than a publication, it’s a space where news, art, and stories converge to reflect student life, spark conversations, and challenge perspectives. Through reporting and creative work, Lanog captures the pulse of the community and its times.

Andres Sugbu
Andres Sugbu is a progressive student organization that celebrates Cebuano culture, literature, and identity through creative expression and cultural engagement. The group organizes activities that promote awareness and campaigns for local language, heritage, and storytelling. Through its initiatives, Andres Sugbu contributes to strengthening regional cultural awareness and critique within the university community.
