MATIX UP Cebu
The Materials Innovation and Experimentation Center (MATIX) UP Cebu is a research and innovation hub of the College of Communication, Art & Design dedicated to exploring the potential of sustainable, locally sourced, and alternative materials for creative design and product development.
It serves as a platform for interdisciplinary research, bringing together students, faculty, and partners to investigate how materials can be reimagined for contemporary applications in design, manufacturing, and the creative industries.
MATIX supports experimentation through hands-on processes, material studies, and prototyping, encouraging innovative approaches that respond to environmental, cultural, and economic contexts.
Through workshops, collaborative projects, and industry partnerships, the center promotes sustainable practices and material-driven design thinking.
By bridging research, creativity, and real-world application, MATIX contributes to the development of responsible design solutions and strengthens the role of CCAD in advancing innovation and sustainability at the University of the Philippines Cebu.
