CCAD recently conducted its Midyear Internship Orientation on June 24, 2026, at Lawak Sinehan, bringing together third-year Communication, Product Design, and Studio Arts students for a comprehensive preparation program ahead of their internship journey.
Designed to guide students as they transition from academic learning to professional practice, the orientation provided essential discussions on internship processes, workplace expectations, safety, institutional policies, and professional conduct. The activity served as a platform for students to gain a clearer understanding of their responsibilities as interns and the values they carry as representatives of CCAD in their respective partner organizations.
The first major segment of the program focused on the Internship Overview, facilitated by the CCAD Internship, Linkages, and Partnership Committee. The session provided students with an overview of internship requirements, processes, expectations, and program-specific guidelines. Instructor Edwin Ao discussed internship matters for Fine Arts Product Design, highlighting the importance of translating design knowledge and creative problem-solving skills into professional environments. Instructor Marlen Limpag, representing the Communication Program, provided guidance on the communication students’ internship experience, including the relevance of industry engagement and responsible communication practice. Meanwhile, Instructor Marie Nelle Valmoria oriented Fine Arts Studio Arts students on internship considerations aligned with artistic practice, creative development, and professional growth.
Following the program overview, the orientation proceeded with discussions addressing important workplace concerns. The session on Occupational Hazards and Safety was facilitated by Dr. Alvin G. Roxas, Dean of the College of Science, UP Cebu, who discussed workplace awareness, safety practices, and the importance of being prepared for potential risks in professional settings. Atty. Archill Capistrano, Coordinator of the Office of Anti-Sexual Harassment, UP Cebu, led the session on Anti-Sexual Harassment and Exploitation Policies, reminding students of their rights and responsibilities in maintaining safe, respectful, and inclusive professional spaces.
Students also gained insights on professional behavior through the discussion on Workplace Etiquette and Professional Conduct led by Mr. Jeruel Roa, Instructor for Corporate Communication under the Communication Program. The session emphasized the importance of professionalism, accountability, communication skills, and ethical workplace relationships as essential qualities of successful interns.
To further clarify institutional requirements, Atty. Grace Marie Lopez, Faculty Member of the Communication Program, discussed MOA Guidelines and Requirements, providing students with important information on agreements, documentation, and responsibilities involved in internship partnerships.
Through the Midyear Internship Orientation 2026, CCAD reaffirmed its commitment to preparing students not only as skilled practitioners but also as responsible professionals ready to contribute meaningfully to the creative industries and communication sectors. The program marked an important step in the students’ transition from academic learning to real-world experience; where creativity, discipline, and professional values come together.
