On August 12, 2026, both new and continuing faculty were welcomed by the College of Communication Arts and Design to set expectations, align programs, and welcome one another in a new chapter for the College.

Facilitated by Product Design faculty members Asst. Prof. Jay Jore and Instr. Kil Camalongay, the meeting opened with a welcome message from Dean Crina Tañongon, where she warmly reminded the faculty on the UP Philosophy that education is not simply about transmitting disciplinary knowledge. As educators, we are entrusted with molding students into people who can think critically, act responsibly, and contribute meaningfully to the welfare of society., giving insight into the fact that the College offers the most General Education (GE) courses. She then reiterated the need for the College to continue strengthening the programs, refining the curricula, and expanding the possibilities for more areas of study.

The faculty members were then introduced by the Program Coordinators for the four programs being offered by the College, Asst. Prof. Ton Daposala, Assoc. Prof. Rose Arong, Prof. Dennis Montera, and Asst. Prof. Lionel Sanchez. Each program’s introductory details were then discussed afterwards. Asst. Prof. Jorisse Gumanay-Nasol, the quality assurance officer, also gave updates on the EQA of the programs.

The meeting also had Dean Tañongon discuss the roles and responsibilities of the CCAD Faculty, setting expectations for the College’s educators on their conduct and growth in scholarly, creative, and professional areas. Prof. Bel Espiritu, the College Secretary, then discussed the academic policies and processes to remind the faculty on their responsibilities as educators.

The meeting was concluded through the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Product Design faculty member Asst. Prof. Palmy Tudtud, where she emphasized the continuous need for mentorship and support amongst the faculty. She hopes that the younger faculty members get to learn from their seniors and that the senior members actively give back to their juniors.

With this meeting, the faculty reinforced CCAD’s commitment to connect, create, and change. Through collaborative leadership and active faculty participation, the College continues to move forward as a department grounded in honor, excellence, and service to serve the people.
