The College of Communication, Art and Design (CCAD) will hold its second activity for its Permaculture Garden on September 2, 2026 at the Sunset Garden.
Permaculturist Lee Hizola will lead a lecture titled “Soil: Understanding the Foundation of the Garden,” which will feature a hands-on activity on making fish amino acid for soil conditioning.
“This week, we continue by going down to the soil—learning about soil and exploring how we can condition and nourish it using natural processes,” said CCAD Dean Crina Tañongon.
The college is inviting new participants, even those with no prior experience in permaculture or gardening.
“Just bring your curiosity and willingness to learn and get your hands into the work,” added Tañongon.
The activity is part of CCAD’s ongoing Permaculture Garden activities under the planned CCAD Community Biospace.
The biospace envisions bringing together ecological practice, community engagement, knowledge production, and creative work.
Last week, Hizola led an introductory lecture on permaculture as the first activity of the garden initiative.
