The UP Cebu Fine Arts Program continues to cultivate both creativity and responsibility through the third installment of the Himoan Workshop Series, a session grounded in workshop readiness, safety, and hands-on familiarity with the workshop environment.

Focused on preparing students for work inside Workshop 3, the session began with an orientation on essential equipment, proper usage, and the risks present within the workspace, guided by our very own Studio Arts faculty, Assistant Professor Nomar Miano. More than a technical briefing, it emphasized the importance of discipline and awareness as integral to artistic practice.

Students were also introduced to the available tools through a short demonstration, allowing them to better understand how each piece of equipment supports their creative process. The session encouraged not only exploration, but also respect for the tools and the shared space they occupy.

A key highlight of the workshop was the identification of potential risks within the studio. By actively engaging in this process, students strengthened their sense of accountability, ensuring that safety becomes second nature in their creative work.

As part of the Himoan series—rooted in the Cebuano spirit of making and creating—this third session reinforces that artistry is not only about expression, but also about preparedness, care, and community.
