The College of Communication, Art, and Design (CCAD) of UP Cebu met with representatives from Japanese company Asia Human Relations (AHR) for a discussion on potential partnerships in Japanese language education and 3D computer graphics (3DCG).
The meeting explored opportunities to expand learning pathways for CCAD students through Japanese language instruction, industry-oriented training, internships, and possible collaborations with Japanese companies.
AHR introduced its Japanese Language Education Program, which provides free Japanese language learning through app-based and online instruction. The initiative complements CCAD’s Communication program, which offers foreign languages as free electives, including Japanese 10.
The discussion also explored the possibility of establishing a 3D Design Laboratory in collaboration with TAWO Inc., a Japanese production company specializing in 3DCG, animation, character design, and interactive content. The proposed initiative could complement CCAD’s programs in Graphic Design and Multimedia Productions by providing students with industry-oriented training in 3D modeling, animation, and digital content creation. It could also create opportunities for internships and future professional engagement with Japanese creative industries.
“These conversations allow us to explore ways of connecting our students with international partners and industry practitioners while strengthening the skills they need for future careers,” CCAD Dean Crina Tañongon said.
Representing AHR during the meeting were Mr. Hiroaki Hamakawa, Director of the AHR Program; Mr. Akira Ishioka, AHR staff; and Ms. Joy Paoline Martinez, Japanese Language Teacher. They were accompanied by Atty. Maria Suzeth Sinogaya, CCAD Japanese 10 lecturer and Japanese-Filipino interpreter for AHR.

The meeting is part of CCAD’s continuing efforts to develop partnerships that enhance student learning, professional formation, and international engagement.
CCAD looks forward to continuing discussions with AHR and identifying concrete areas of collaboration with UP Cebu and Japanese industry partners.
