The UP Cebu University Library has launched its 4th Annual Martial Law Literacy Month in collaboration with the Master of Arts in Communication and Media (MACM) Program.
Launched on September 1, 2026, the month-long observance features curated books, audiovisual materials, original interviews, and other resources on Martial Law, now available at the Faculty Nook of the UP Cebu University Library.
The annual event promotes awareness and understanding of the Marcosian Martial Law period among the UP Cebu community through curated resources, discussions, and creative presentations.
A Martial Law Literacy Corner will be open at the University Library until the end of September. It features a curated collection of books and a dedicated workstation equipped with a headset for viewing and listening to selected audiovisual materials.
Story Discussions on the Martial Law period will be held on September 9 and 16.
Meanwhile, a Dramatic Reading of Nick Joaquin’s “Pinoy Agonistes” will be held on September 30 at the Performing Arts Hall.
Through these activities, the University Library and MACM provide the UP Cebu community with opportunities to access resources that deepen their understanding of the Martial Law period while engaging in critical conversations about its history and continuing significance. – with a report from UP Cebu PIO
