Instructors from the Product Design Program of UP Cebu, Nessa Abayon and Kil Camalongay, spoke to Architecture students of Foundation University in Dumaguete City on September 2, 2026, about the fundamentals and principles of Social Design.
“We talked about the fundamentals and principles of social design and some tips for a successful social design project,” said Camalongay.
Abayon and Camalongay also shared projects developed by their classes at UP Cebu, giving the students insights into how social design principles can be applied in practice.
The Department of Architecture of Foundation University holds an alternative learning event every semester called “Open Studio,” which provides a platform for exchanging stories and experiences in practice and aims to spark new interests and ideas among its students.
Apart from Abayon and Camalongay, Happy Garaje Co-founder Mark Deutsch also joined the discussion, sharing insights on Graphic Design.
The talk is part of the Product Design Program’s continuing commitment to broaden its professional and academic network and strengthen its role as a leading design institution in the Visayas.
