Instructor Edwin Ao of the Product Design Program recently showcased his latest collection at BENCH Fashion Week Holiday 2026 in Makati City.
Entitled “Chlorophyll Hexagons: The Body in Impermanence,” the collection transforms ideas of impermanence and transformation into a visual language.
“The collection contemplates the body as something fluid, continually rewritten by memory, experience, and time. Organic forms meet fractured imagery through fragmentation, layering, and recomposition, creating silhouettes that feel at once familiar and otherworldly,” BENCH described.
The collection features solar printing, where sunlight and chlorophyll become agents of imprint and change.
“On fabric, nature leaves its trace; on the body, impermanence becomes visible. Each garment emerges as a record of exposure and evolution, celebrating the beauty of letting go,” the company added in its description of the collection.
Ao has been described as a “master architect” of Philippine fashion. His career in fashion spans more than two decades, during which he has redefined modern menswear and womenswear through sculptural silhouettes and precise tailoring.
The fasion community describes his work as marked by structural precision and textile innovation, with a career that has included presentations in Paris, Tokyo, Singapore, and other parts of Asia.
